Despite every effort to will the warmer days of spring out of winter, the frigid temps keep a strong hold on our wardrobes and whereabouts here in bean town…In the art history class I’m taking, we’re discussing the psychological impact of colors on mood, and I can’t help but notice the variant shades of blue that seem to decorate these shorter days…from pale periwinkles lighting up the morning sky to the deep, royal hues that signal sundown, the “winter blues – au contraire to their typical association- bring me such happiness.

In light of our last program finishing up at the Boston Opera House and gearing up for next week’s opening of Cinderella, I thought I would share a favorite recipe for a performance snack that never fails… This recipe for “Life Changing Bread” has come to be a favorite of mine, brimful of nuts and seeds, oats and healthy (energizing!) goodies of every sort… I’ve made it in a loaf as the recipe suggests, but decided to make it in muffins this time for easy grab-and-go, theater-bound snacks.

…and sprinkled throughout, some captured-stage moments of Jose Martinez’s Resonance (last week’s Close to Chuck program) and a few blue light-lingering shots of Boston’s historic Northend.
