Boston, you innovative hub of surprises you :)

Since my move to this beautiful city, I’ve been consistently inspired by the people I’ve met and the talent I’ve come across… This past weekend was no exception as I had the opportunity to photograph for a genius dinner concept that in a name {TAG}, provides a Table for Artists to Gather. I often get asked my reasons for having a blog that chronicles both food and dance – to me this pairing seems perfectly paralleled. While food, as well as dance, remains a necessity to my every day, I love the idea that every meal may be a performance in and of itself — each ingredient playing a key role of color, flavor, composition, shape on your plate and influence on your palate; the combination of which provides for a perfect bite of culinary delight. I’ve always thought of chefs as culinary artists, rehearsing well their flavor profiles, texture variants and plate presentation. I see so many similarities between their discipline and passion for perfection as I see in the ballet studio each day…

“Inspired by renga poetry, a collaborative chain of poetry that alternates between two authors, TAG seeks to inspire synergistic dialogue between chefs and musicians. Food inspiring music, music inspiring food. For each event, a menu is created by a chef, inspired by that evening’s musical selection. In turn, the musician has chosen a set of songs based on a previous event’s menu. Music and cuisine are intertwined. The chain of ideas continues and evolves.”

This past Sunday, I had the great pleasure of chronicling the culinary/musical journey of multi-talented musician Rob Flax and the inspired menu of Chef Jonathan Fenelon and PhaDe Food Labs. To the humble delight of both my lens and palate, we drank, ate and relished our way through a 7 course menu which paid homage to each of the great Boston restaurants that the Chef has called home.  TAG Dinner

There simply is not enough to be said for evenings such as these…the rare occasions when you can sit amongst innovative minds of art and science, the humility of tasting such beautifully executed culinary performances from plate to plate…

I’d like to raise my hat to the brilliant minds behind the TAG dinner series — I’m ever inspired by your talents and grateful for the opportunity to capture your passion through a lens… Here’s to many more an artists’ gathering!
